Life of an illiterate episode fifteen

EPISODE 15
*
Clara sat on her bed with her laptop on her laps
waiting patiently for a friend of hers to come
online on a video chat.
"Hi David! " She greeted as soon as her expected
friend came online.
"Hello Darlin'. How is Nigeria? " David asked.
"Nigeria is cool. Really cool. How is the states? I
heard it's kind of cold this season"
"Yeah that's right. It's really cold. I feel really
warm chatting with you"
"O! That's romantic. I really feel cold here "
"I really miss you. I can't wait for us to get
married and bring you back here" she smiled
and looked away for a while. Her mind
wandered to the incident that occurred a month
ago with Christian. "Are you okay? "
"Yes... "
"You didn't reply me. Why are you making this
chat dry? "
"Sorry. I miss you too" She replied with no
sincerity in her tone.
"You seem to be tired. We can chat up later
dear"
"No need. We can chat on"
"I can see you are tired. Send me a goodnight
kiss instead "
"Come on. Fine just disconnect already"
"Send me a kiss first..."
"Look David. I really have to sleep now"
"Come on. You really have to"
"Look, after marriage there will be lots of time
for that but for now I will like my privacy. Hope
you understand "
"Promise? "
"Promise"
"Good night " She nodded without giving a reply.
As soon as the video chat ended, she had shut
her laptop with a sigh. He was a nice guy. A
really nice guy but she wasn't interested in him.
She had tried. She had really tried to give her
heart to him but nothing worked. She couldn't.
She still liked Chris. She still had feelings for
him. He was fun to be with. She recalled the
first time she had met him during her childhood
days. He was really annoying. Very annoying but
he was cute too. She never cared about his poor
grammar, in fact she found it fun and
fascinating. She saw it as a mere joke. She
wasn't sure why she was that way but she'd
knew she was ready to give Chris a chance if he
ask her out. She was very much ready.

The day of the engagement arrived. Chris lay
flat on his bed unconsciously staring at his
watch repeatedly. There was 30 minutes left.
"No, stop this Chris. You are not going" He said
to himself with a reluctant look.
"Dear I don't want to get engaged to him. I
have married you Chris. I don't want to get
married" He's hear a voice behind him. He
recognized the voice. Staring behind him, he got
astonished seeing Clara this time in a peach
colored engagement gown looking so beautiful
in it. She had tears in her eyes. Real tears. He
shut his eyes tightly knowing this was a trick his
mind was playing.
"Leave my head! Go get married"
"I love you Chris. Don't you get it"
"GO AWAY! AHHHH! "
